Why Use A Worm Farm Kit?

There are three questions I get asked often at Denju Worms when considering the idea of starting a worm farm. The first question is, “Why use a worm farm kit?” The second question I get is, “What do worms eat?” and the third question I get is, “Are worms better than nutrients added directly to my compost heap?” In this article I will answer all the above questions and explain why I use a worm farm kit to get started with worm farming.

Worms eat organic waste matter and because they live in the soil, they ingest organic matter such as leaves, wood and garden waste which are high in nutrients and contain carbon. Worms also eat bacteria, algae, other worms and slugs so you need to make sure that your compost piles are not full of these kinds of waste materials and have good aeration if you want your compost to have good bacteria in it. Adding worm castings to your compost will help improve the aeration of your compost pile.

If you use manure from animals, sheep, or cows you will want to make sure that the animal waste is worm free because there will be active worm colonies in the compost when the worm farmer starts releasing the castings into the compost. This is why I prefer using a worm farm as opposed to making my own compost bin. Using a worm farm kit allows me to control the environment in my compost making it a closed system where the worms are happier and healthier, the worms eat well and the result is a healthy natural product that my garden plants will thrive on.

Baby Gift Hampers Make Great Gifts

A baby hamper is the perfect gift for a new mom! While they can be used in nurseries to hold blankets and other necessities, there are many styles of hampers that will look great with your nursery’s decor. For example, you could get one with pom-poms or animal prints; whatever style suits her best!

Baby hampers are a good choice for the nursery because babies go through clothes quickly. Babies are messy when they eat and often messy when they play. A baby hamper is an attractive way to keep laundry out of sight until then. the infant hamper has now replaced the diaper stacker as one of the most handy items in the nursery.

Baskets with baby items are nice for baby showers. But baby hampers have plenty of space, so you can pack baby blankets, a box of diapers, baby outfits, toys, rattles, and towels all in one gift. A hamper is much more useful than a basket as it serves a specific purpose. The mother of the infant will likely receive plenty of gift baskets from well meaning friends and family.

You may be thinking baby hampers are expensive. They do cost more than baby gift baskets. But, when you consider how much more useful they are and that they will be used for at least a couple years, baby hampers are a great value. There are hampers for the nursery in different price ranges. You don’t have to break the bank to give a thoughtful and useful gift for mom and baby.

There are many gift ideas for baby and mom. They will receive plenty of items that will be used for only a short time, such as onesies and tiny socks. Baby hampers can be used for several years. Many are washable when removed from their wood frames. Others, like the large woven basket types, can simply be aired out.

Baby hampers come in many styles and many different themes. There are hampers with deer, goats, elephants, ballerinas, butterflies, lions, horses, airplanes, swans, dinosaurs, penguins, and moon and stars, just to name a few. So, there are plenty of choices that will coordinate with specific nursery themes. There are solid colors and floral prints, if you cannot find something to go with a specific theme.

When searching for the right baby hamper for a gift, consider the preferences of the parents, as far as nursery décor. Some parents only choose color schemes. Others have everything coordinated in the same print or the same design. There may be a hamper in the style they have chosen but they have not yet thought about the hamper. They may have been too busy picking out crib bedding, blankets, changing tables, and dressers, to think about a hamper.

The best baby hamper is one that will stand up to frequent use. Finding one with a washable fabric that can be removed from the frame is a plus, because infant laundry can get smelly. Having a hamper with a flap that folds over the top is even better, to keep odors to a minimum. Woven basket styles are suitable too, but they are more functional if they come with lids.

Another consideration when choosing a baby hamper is to think about the items you want to add to them. Is the hamper wide enough? Can you comfortably fit all the items you want to give inside? Have you decided what you want to put in it? These are some additional considerations beyond nursery décor that you may want to think about, when choosing a model from all the baby hampers on the market today.
